5 Don’ts to Prevent Knee Pain

Most of us, young or old, have witnessed knee pain at some point. Whether it may be

something that happens after climbing a long trek or dancing in the wrong way, it has

disturbed our daily routine and mobility to some extent, if not a lot. If you are older, these

experiences must occur quite frequently in your lives if you are lucky enough for them not

to occur regularly.

 

What is Knee Pain?

Knee pain is a mild or strong sensation in the knee joint, causing a disturbance and difficulty

in mobility. It mainly happens due to an underlying knee injury, such as a ruptured ligament

or torn cartilage. Further, developing conditions like arthritis, gout, and infections can cause

knee pain in people.

However, if you take care of your knees from a younger age, you can avoid knee pain or the

adverse effects of any injury on your knees. 

 

Here are a few preventive measures for knee pain that can be followed from a young age.

 

 

1. Do not overlook your Weight-

If you are on the higher side of Weight, losing some will help your knee health. The high

Weight gives more stress on your knees, making them weak.

 

 

2. Do not risk a Fall-

Falling can cause more damage to the knee than any other activity. So avoid being in

conditions where you can injure your knees. Make your house safe from falling.

 

 

3. Do not Neglect Exercising-

Cardio can help you be at a healthy weight, but it does not impact your joints. To improve

joint health, practice weight training exercises a week thrice. You will feel stronger than

before.

 

 

4. Do not fail to use RICEIf

you witness any minor accident or injury to your knee, follow RICE- Rest, ice, compression,

and elevation for a quick and healthy recovery.

 

 

5. Do not Rest too much-

If you rest too much, it can weaken your muscles and increase the risk of injury. So practice

exercises correctly to be safe for your knees, and stick with them regularly.

 

 

Knee health should be an important part of our lives, just like any other aspect. Simple

precautions, daily exercise, and healthy diet practices can do wonders for our knee and

bone health.
